Learn Spanish in Seville

Ah, Seville. For many the cultural and financial capital of Andalusia is synonymous with Spain. Perhaps most known as the setting of the Italian comic opera The Barber of Seville, modern Seville is home to some 700,000 inhabitants making it Spain's fourth largest city. Its population and privileged geographical position have made it an important economic and industrial hub in Andalusia. In recent times it has also witnessed a boom in technologically oriented investment, with particular emphasis in solar energy research, aeronautics and agricultural technology. A total of nine PS20 solar towers, among the most cutting edge in the world, are currently in operation in Seville with more in development. Seville is connected to Madrid via a high speed rail link called the AVE (alta velocidad española). There is a sizeable industrial sector in Seville, but the bulk of employment is centred on the service sector, principally in tourism and financial services. Seville is an ancient city, first settled 2000 years ago, with numerous Roman relics to explore. In the dog days of Summer the heat can be quite intense for those unaccostumed to it, with highs up to 45ºC (113ºF), though relief is always available in the shade.
